Pertinax is a hard, dense material made by applying heat and pressure to a hard coating or fabric impregnated with synthetic resin. Pertinax / Penolic / ebonite is widely useful in electrical applications because of its non-conductive nature.
Pertinax is also often used for machine shaft bearings and screen printing table boards because it does not absorb air and oil. Pertinax is made from paper, this material is made by means of a layered impregnation lamination process, then formed using hot pressure

Pertinax has dielectric properties that make this material a good insulator, it can be used in transformer and PCB applications.
